American Samoa's director of the Territorial Office of Homeland Security Lei'ataua Ala'ilima says a staff member stepped out of line when he talked about security issues to the media.

Leota Ainuuu, the Outreach Coordinator for the Homeland Security Office, said that a terrorist involved in the 2001 bombings in the US east coast, had entered the mainland through American Samoa .

Leiataua says Leota's role is to work with local communities including villages, private sector, non governement organisations, and religious groups to promote disaster awareness and preparedness.

He declared that Leota does not possess security clearances to access secure information or the authority to engage the media on behalf of the office, on such sensitive matters.
