Solomsn parliament resumes

3:04 pm on 2 October 2006

Parliament has resumed in Solomon Islands but the motion of bo-confidence in the government is not expected to go ahead until Friday.

The opposition leader, Fred Fono, claims he has the numbers to topple Prime Minister, Manasseh Sogavare.

The prospect of political upheaval has led to Australia warning that ethnic violence may again flare up in the country, although the police say they have no intelligence to support this.
