Vanuatu police say they are not pursuing Solomon Islands' new attorney-general, Julian Moti, on child sex allegations.
Mr Moti, who has Australian citizenship, was arrested in Papua New Guinea last Friday at the request of Australian authorities.
The arrest relates to allegated child sex offences in Vanuatu in 1997.
He has previously faced Vanuatu courts on similar charges but been acquitted.
Vanuatu's police commander, Lieutenant Colonel Patu Lui, says they are no longer concerned with Mr Moti.
Australian authorities are yet to reveal why they have waited until now to act against Mr Moti, who late last month was controversially named as Solomon Islands attorney general.
Meanwhile Mr Moti is on the run in PNG after failing to appear in court on Saturday.
