Samoa's Supreme Court which also deals with election cases will start proceedings today over an election petition against the youngest woman MP, Letoa Rita Chang, who won a by-election held just a week ago.

The petition was lodged over the week-end by the runner up, Papali'i Samuelu Petaia, who is a medical doctor.

Both the petitioner and the MP contested the Fa'asalele'aga number two seat under the banner of the ruling Human Rights Protection Party.

Papali'i's petition alleges bribery and treating against the winner before and during the by-election.
