Samoa's newly elected woman MP, Letoa Rita Pa'u Chang, is facing eleven counts of bribery.
The petitioner, Papali'i Samuelu Petaia, alleges the respondent was guilty of corrupt practices in that, she herself or her father and agent Pa'u Sefo, committed bribery before the Fa'asalele'aga constituency by-election on September 22nd.
Court documents show the eleven allegations relate to the giving of more than 3 thousand US Dollars and food to several voters in the days before the constituency went to the polls.
The Chief Justice, Patu Falefatu Sapolu, has adjourned the case to Thursday next week, to allow the petitioner' s lawyer to provide written affidavits to support the allegations.
