A proposal to set up a private hospital in Lautoka Fiji is under consideration in Fiji.

The Fiji Times online reports that locals may not be able to access health services at the hospital because the charges are expected to be very high and geared towards foreigners wanting elective surgery that is too expensive in their own countries.

The chief executive of the Foreign Affairs Ministry Isikeli Mataitoga said discussions over the proposed hospital were in their final stages.
