The U.S. Department of Interior has awarded the LBJ hospital in American Samoa 400,000 US dollars to improve the water supply and wastewater management.

The governor Togiola Tulafono says work can now begin at the hospital.

Meanwhile, the governor says the territory will get 300,000 dollars from the Department of Transportation for highway safety.

This funding will help American Samoa continue to improve its traffic records system as well as develop more effective strategies for reducing crashes, deaths and injuries.
