In Tahiti, July was the best month for tourism in five years with a total of 23,015 overseas visitors that month.
According to the latest government tourism statistics, July has given 2006 a 6% lead over last year.
The July figure was 2,357, up 11-point-4 percent more than for the same period a year ago.
Tahiti has had 122,411 tourists for the first seven months of 2006.
French Polynesia Vice President and Tourism Minister Jacqui Drollet attributed Air Tahiti Nui's stopover packages for the rise in visitor numbers.
