Solomons foreign minister says RAMSI stays

4:29 pm on 18 October 2006

The foreign minister of Solomon Island, Patteson Oti, says Australians working with the Regional Assistance Mission in the Solomon Islands won't be expelled over the Moti affair.

Today's assurance appears to contradict comments by the prime minister, Manasseh Sogavare.

Mr Sogavare has threatened to kick the Australian-led RAMSI mission out of Solomon Islands if Canberra continues to push for Mr Moti's extradition.

The prime minister is fighting Australia's bid to extradite Mr Moti from the Solomons to face child sex charges.
