A member of Fiji's Senate has called for a review of the president, Ratu Josefa Iloilo's performance in office.

Radio Legend reports that the call has come from Senator Ratu Solomoni Buaserau, who is also the chairman of the Naitasiri Provincial Council.

Senator Buaserau says he agrees with Suva lawyer Tevita Fa that President Iloilo should have been more decisive and firm in dealing with the stand-off between the military and the government.

The senator says the president should be strong in making decisions because he is the commander-in-chief of the military and the nation.

He says it's time for the appointing authority, the Great Council of Chiefs, to assess the president's performance.
