Papua New Guinea mining officials are still planning to travel to Sydney Australia for a Mining and Petroleum Investment Conference in December.

The Post Courier newspaper reports the Chamber of Mining and Petroleum executive director Greg Anderson as saying the meeting will not be put off because PNG ministers were being banned from entering Australia.

Mr Anderson said five ministers had confirmed their attendance for the conference which included the Mining Minister Sam Akoitai, Petroleum Minister Sir Moi Avei, Treasurer Sir Rabbie Namaliu and the recently suspended Works Minister Gabriel Kapris.

Last week, the Australian Government halted all ministerial contact with Papua New Guinea and banned travel by ministers from PNG to Australia.
