Commonwealth head in Solomon Islands to show support for RAMSI

The Commonwealth Secretary-General, Don McKinnon, has flown to Solomon Islands to emphasise his support for the Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands.

After attending the Pacific Islands Forum in Nadi, Fiji earlier this week, he is scheduled to meet the Solomon Islands Prime Minister, Manasseh Sogavare, and other government ministers.

Mr McKinnon says he arrives in Honiara with a clear message of support for RAMSI.

He is alsodue to meet representatives of civil society and the Commonwealth Youth Programme.
