Japan allocates funds to Forum Secretariat

Japan is giving 200 thousand US dollars to the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat.

The funds are said to be part of Japan's on-going annual support to the Secretariat and an indication of its growing commitment to development efforts in the Pacific Island region.

The contribution will be specifically utilized for the "Nauru National Planning Capacity Building" project,

At the same time, Japan's envoy Dr. Tatsuo Arima announced the introduction of the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Project Programme to Nauru.

The programme is specifically designed to address basic human needs, which include water supply, health, basic education, vocational training, sanitary environment and rural infrastructure.
