PNG launches e-commerce website

Papua New Guineans can now do internet shopping using the local currency, the kina.

Data Nets and Westpac Bank have launched an internet shopping site that enables credit card holders in PNG to buy goods and services online.

Data Nets general manager, Sundar Ramamurthy, has told the newspaper, The National, that the move is to create more growth in the economy and to allow people to sell their products and services via the internet.

The new PNG shopping site is www.esishop.com.pg.
