4:33 pm on 30 October 2006

Air New Zealand has launched its inaugural weekly flight to Vanuatu.

The airline's Group General manager, Norm Thompson, says it's delighted to offer the service to Vanuatu, and the inaugural flight which left on Sunday is due back in Auckland today.

In August, the airline entered into a code share agreement with Air Vanuatu.

Air New Zealand has joined up with two other services operated by Air Vanuatu between Auckland and Port Vila.

Vanuatu is the ninth Pacific Island destination for Air New Zealand.
