Samoa chief may seek removal of matai title from Agriculture minister

The chief of Lalomanu village in Samoa, Fuataga Kasimani Lautusi, is considering taking legal action against the Minister of Agriculture, Taua Kitiona Seuala.

Fuataga told SBC television that his petition, to be filed at the Lands and Titles court, will seek an order to remove a matai title of his village from the government minister .

His petition will also seek the removal of a matai title from one of the orators, Seuala Patone, a supporter of the minister.

This is the latest development in a row which erupted some two weeks ago after three orators and their supporters said they had banished the chief because he re-instated old protocols.

It relates to sua presentation where the chief was not honored during a funeral service but the MP and one of the chief's orators were.
