An assault charge against a Samoa newspaper journalist was withdrawn when the case was heard for mention in the district court yesterday.
The charge was initially filed by police after investigating the journalist's complaint that he had been assaulted by the head of Samoa's Broadcasting Corporation Galumalemana Faiesea Matafeo.
The alleged assault occurred two weeks ago while the journalist was taking photos of the CEO's son who is facing two charges of negligent driving causing death and injuries.
Since the incident, Galumalemana has apologised and asked the journalist's family to drop the matter.
The court now accepts that the matter has been resolved between two sides.
