A 26 strong group which subscribes to the philosophy of Vastu Shastra is expected in Niue this week.

Vastu Shastra advocates architectural forms that are in harmony with nature and members have been looking at constructing some accommodation on Niue.

There had been reports that the group intended buying the island's only hotel, the Matavai, but no offer has been made.

The premier Young Vivian says he expects to meet with the group, which he believes could provide a boost for the island.

"Well I am looking towards that at the present moment but still we have to be cautious, because no proposal is on paper as yet."

The Vastu Shastra members are expected to arrive by chartered aircraft and Mr Vivian says they will be asked to pay bonds of up to three thousand US dollars.
