Samoa party leader's ban lifted

A ban which ostracised the Samoa party leader, Su'a Rimoni Ah Chong, in his village of Lano in Savai'i Island has been lifted.

The council's decision in early June followed when Su'a had filed an election petition accusing the former MP and government minister, Mulitalo Siafausa Vui, of corruption and illegal practices during this year's election.

The Lands and Titles court in a ruling based on a petition against the village decision had ordered the return of Su'a because the move was illegal.

Su'a was welcomed over the week-end in a traditional ceremony with the village matais where reconciliation was also taken place.
