The government of Papua New Guinea is looking at reviving the rubber industry to make it on par with other exports such as cocoa, copra and palm oil.

The Agricultural minister, Sasa Zibe has appointed five new members to form an interim Rubber Board of PNG.

He says in the last century, successive governments have overlooked rubber's monetary and economic value.

He said the country had potential to export rubber to countries like India and China over the next 15 years.
