A man from the Papua New Guiena island of Bougainville has been handed four life sentences to be served concurrently for the killing of four people in Gizo in Solomon Islands during the ethnic tension.
Geogory Luavex has been found guilty of four counts of murder by the Honiara High Court.
In his ruling, Justice Edwin Goldsborough said whilst there was no evidence that Luavex pulled the trigger in the shoot-out that killed Ian Chapangi, Brianly Java, Barry Otuana, Ivan Reve, there is evidence that led the group.
The shooting happened in a room at Gizo Hotel on November the 12th 2000.
