10:45 am on 8 November 2006

Fiji's military leadership has called on 3,000 reserve troops now in camp to remain firm and loyal to the military.

Radio Legend reports that the military chief of staff, navy captain Esala Teleni, made the call as the reserve forces were ordered to remain in camp for another week.

Their annual training was to end on Sunday but they have been told to stay in camp till Friday of next week.

In an address to the troops training in Suva yesterday, Captain Teleni told the soldiers that whatever is happening in Fiji today is God's calling on the military.

He said their spirit and their honesty will be tested through their performance of whatever tasks they will be called upon to do.

Captain Teleni said whatever courage they have will be put to the test in the next few days.

Meanwhile, the military commander, Commodore Bainimarama, will reveal their next step in a statement in Suva this afternoon.
