The chartered accounting firm KPMG is reviewing 12,500 trust files of the former Office of Public Trustee, now the newly launched Fiji Public Trustee Corporation Ltd.

The Fiji Sun paper reports the review of the company aims to provide an accountable and transparent service, and getting rid of corruption and abuse from the system.

The Public Enterprise chief executive officer Pramesh Chand says when the organisation was a Government department problems occurred when files weren't updated and proper accounts weren't kept.

He says at that time the Auditor-General cited abuse of funds in his audit report.

The Office of the Public Trustee was corporatised but remains 100 percent government-owned.
