Tonga pro-democracy MP says more unrest likely if the government won't meet

8:16 pm on 21 November 2006

A member of a pro-democracy group after radical political change in Tonga says there may be more unrest if it cannot meet with government and the King.

Clive Edwards, who is also an independent member of the Tongan parliament, says his group wants the Commonwealth Secreteriat to get involved too.

Mr Edwards says the group is in no mood to tolerate games.

"There may be civil disobedience in so far as carrying out government orders and instructions, but we will have to assess our position in view of what has been happening since the Thursday until now to know far and how strong our support is."
