Church minister in American Samoa charged over alleged sex abuse

A church minister in American Samoa has been removed from a church parish after being charged with abusing a 16-year old girl.

The Samoa News reports that the Reverend Kolose Fruean was removed from the Congregational Christian Church of American Samoa in the village of Masausi while charges against him goes through the legal system.

The newspaper says the 37-year old reverend has entered a not guilty plea in the High Court on one count of first degree sexual abuse, which is a felony.

Two more charges have been filed in District Court against Fruean, who is out on bail.
