PNG's Mainland expands to coffee buying

Mainland Holdings, one of the leading nationally owned companies based in Papua New Guinea's Lae province, has now tapped into coffee production and export, a crop which the company initially had started to pursue in the early 1960s.

Group general manager Graham Pollok made the announcement, saying Mainland was in the final stages of buying out Niugini Coffee, Tea and Spices company, and by the end of this month, it would fully come under the ownership of Mainland.

He said this will boost Mainland's operations and it will become the third single largest exporter of coffee in Papua New Guinea.
