American Samoa's Inter Island Air given another 30 days

American Samoa's Inter Island Air has been given another 30 day extension to operate flights to Samoa after its foreign air certificate expired last month.

The Samoa Government wants the airline to be properly certified as a scheduled carrier rather than an on demand charter service which it is now.

The airline suspended flights to Apia at the end of September when its first 30 day extension ran out.

The Samoa Civil Aviation Authority approved a 30 day extension but told the airline it needed to sort out outstanding issues with the US Department of Transportation and Samoan civil aviation authorities.

An airline spokesman said last week that they have not held any discussions.
