PNG's mining industry supportive of new authority

Papua New Guinea's mining industry says it supports the new Mineral Resource Authority.

PNG's Mining Minister Sam Akoitai made the announcement during the 9th PNG Mining and Petroleum Conference being held in Sydney Australia this week.

He says the principle funding mechanism for the MRA was a production levy in respect of all minerals produced from mining activities.

The Post Courier reports Mr Akoitai as saying the mining industry supported the authority, which will help contribute to an attractive investment climate.
