The Warwick International Hotel group has been looking for suitable land in the Cook Islands for a hotel complex.

The Cook Islands Herald reports the company has resorts in Fiji and Vanuatu among 38 hotels worldwide.

It has also acquired a tourism property on Upolu island in Samoa which it plans to develop into a resort.

The paper says Warwick's president Richard Chiu wants to expand his group's South Pacific presence.

This includes planned new resorts in Samoa, Tonga and the Cook Islands, and the upgrading those in Fiji and Vanuatu.
