Churches in Fiji ask international community to think again over sanctions

The Pacific Conference of Churches, in Fiji is calling for New Zealand and Australia to show greater understanding and not impose sanctions in the wake of this week's military coup.

The PCC has expressed its sadness at the coup and says its immediate concern is for the safety and security of the citizens of Fiji.

It says the sanctions imposed will not ensure positive outcomes for the people of Fiji.
