Two year tax credit extension for American Samoa canneries

The United States has passed the federal Tax Relief and Health Care Act of 2006, which includes two year extension of 30A tax credits for American Samoa's canneries.

The U.S. House passed the bill late Friday.

Congressman Faleomavaega Eni says the bill will now go directly to the President for signature and the extension will become law before the end of the year.

Faleomavaega says he looks forward to working with the territory's canneries and local leaders and businesses to develop a long-term tax policy that meets the demands of the global tuna market, while attracting other businesses and encouraging further investment in American Samoa.
