A parliamentarian in Papua New Guinea has called for the Mining Act to be reviewed to check that it complies with the country's constitution.
The Western Province Governor Bob Danaya made the call after the recent Mining and Petroleum Minister's Conference in Sydney.
Dr Danaya said one of the principle directives in the constitution was to ensure that natural resources of the nation were utilised effectively for the benefit of people in PNG.
