The Tongan prime minister, Dr Feleti Sevele, is today meeting representatives of a donor mission from Australia, New Zealand, the Asian Development Bank and the International Finance Corporation.
It comes after the government asked key development partners to mount a mission to Tonga to identify options to help efforts to promote the recovery of the private sector after the riot last month.
Radio Tonga reports that the objectives of the mission are to analyse and report on the overall impacts of the unrest on Tongan businesses, and to recommend options to the Government and its donor partners on how to address the recovery.
The latest survey information from the ministry of labour commerce and industries estimates that the total cost of damage to 153 businesses has been 153 million pa'anga or 75 million US dollars, with job losses of around 700.
The survey also found that 99-percent of the business operators are willing to continue trading.
