Solomon Telekom obtains injunction against rival service provider

Solomon Telekom has obtained an injunction against Digicel Pacific Limited restraining it from providing any telecommunication services in Solomon Islands.

Its chief executive officer, Martyn Robinson says the injunction means Digicel will not provide any telecommunication services in Solomons until the High Court makes a decision in current proceedings by Telekom to have its exclusive licence upheld by court.

The Solomon Star newspaper says last month Solomon Telekom took up the legal challenge against the government over its intentions to amend the exclusive licence to allow for more competitors in the country.
