1:20 pm on 20 December 2006

The Solomon Islands deputy prime minister, Job Dudley Tausinga, has resigned from his post and as minister for forests, environment and conservation.

Mr Tausinga has given no reason for his resignation but says he will continue as an MP outside the government coalition.

He was a candidate for the prime ministership this year but when he did not get the numbers in parliament he joined the coalition of the prime minister, Manasseh Sogavare.
