Solomon Islands Police Commissioner considering defamation case over his sacking

11:27 am on 4 January 2007

The sacked Solomon Islands Police Commissioner, Shane Castles, says the Solomon Islands government is trying to destroy his credibility following a number of police investigations which also included some into senior government members.

Mr Castles, who was quoted by the Pacific News Agency Pacnews, says he believes it was the continuing probe into the suspended Attorney General Julian Moti which led to his dismissal under the guise of an immigration ban.

Mr Castles believes the Solomon Islands action is in breach of his contract, and he's believed to be considering defamation action against the Solomon's government.
