A Methodist church minister in Samoa has been expelled for allegedly sending an intimate mobile phone text message to the wife of another church minister.

A source in the church says the message was sent to the woman while her husband was away on an overseas trip.

The president of the Methodist church, Afereti Samuelu, would not comment but a source says the message was saved in the mobile phone and the woman had shown it to her husband.

The matter was then referred to the head of the church where the decision to expel the minister was made by a committee.
