Fiji's interim prime minister has given an assurance that his government will not place any trade ban on New Zealand and Australia in retaliation for the two countries' travel bans on members of his administration and senior public servants.
Commodore Bainimarama says the business community can rest assured that no trade relations with the two countries will be affected.
He says his government recognizes private investment, enterprise and trade as the engines of economic growth.
Accordingly, Commodore Bainimarama says, his government will do all it can to ensure that investment, trade and private sector development continue unrestricted.
He says his government is also determined to rid Fiji of corruption, wastage and mismanagement.
The interim prime minister says this will create a more conducive environment for businesses to grow and flourish.
Commodore Bainimarama says he wants to use diplomacy to persuade New Zealand to leave Fiji alone to sort out its own internal problems.
