Solomon Islands Parliamentary opposition has attacked as premature a government plan to recruit civil servants to serve the 50 Constituencies nation-wide.
Opposition shadow minister for public service, Milner Tozaka says the recruitment of the civil servants will not work because the provincial governments, and their people have not approved it.
He says rather, the exercise has been initiated by the Central Government led by Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare.
The Government wants to engage civil servants of its own choice to be deployed to the constituencies to coordinate and implement its rural development policy under its bottom up approach.
But Mr Tozaka says the idea, meant to be part of a government reform programme, causes confusion and suspicion because it lacks connection to the provincial government system which is supposed to be the driving force.
