Prices at gas stations in American Samoa will drop about 20 cents per gallon based on the new Maximum Allowable Price or wholesale price, that was released on February 1st.

Sione Kava from the government Office of Petroleum Management says they expect the new retail price for petrol to be around $2.71 per gallon, compared to the previous price of $2.91.

Kava says its difficult to predict at this point how the future looks for American Samoa due to the continued fluctuations of the world market in crude oil.
