Dozens of businesses in the French Polynesian capital have stayed open today because of the presence of a large number of cruise ship passengers.
The opening of shops in Papeete on a Sunday has been unprecedented and follows a drive by the tourism promotion authorities to make a visit to the city more attractive.
The campaign has also allowed for the market to be open.
The news agency Tahitipresse reports that Tahiti Tourism has printed a brochure listing the shops that are open on Sundays.
