The village of Gagaifolevao, Lefaga has banished a family with whom a New Zealander now charged with sex offences had been staying.

The CEO of the Ministry of Justice, Masinalupe Tusipa Masinalupe, has told the Samoa Observer newspaper that the

family has sought the ministry's help.

The CEO says the ministry will not interfere with the wishes of the village but will try to facilitate a reconciliation between the two parties.

A tourist, Kevin Peter Beatson stays with the family on regular visits to Samoa.

He has been charged with four counts of indecent acts and assault.
