A Canadian recruiting company has begun processing about 700 applications for jobs by miners made redundant by the closure of the Vatukoula gold mine in Fiji.
The president of JOBROX Solutions, Arvinder Bubber, has told the Fiji Times his team is now going through the applications to match them with requests received from employers in Canada.
He says arrangements for airfares and accommodation in Canada would vary depending on the employers and the type of jobs offered to successful applicants.
Mr Bubber says his team would be returning to Fiji in the next two months to gather applications from people in other sectors.
He says JOBRIX also wants to meet with the management of tertiary institutions to discuss the possibility of training people for work in Canada.
