The Samoa Cricket Association's development officer Andrew Knott has hailed the just completed under 15's tournament a huge success.

Seven teams from around the Pacific were in Samoa last week playing for the International Cricket East Asia Pacific title, won by Papua New Guinea for the second time.

The host nation finished fifth but Knott says that was a good result.

"We were happy with the way they finished off, they weren't a bunch of inexperienced cricketers, the development programme's only been going here for a few years, so we were happy with the way they learnt throughout the tournament and they actually improved a lot and to finish off the way they did to beat the Cook Islands, we were quite happy with. Naturally we would always like to see them go up a bit higher, but the boys had a great time, and we were quite happy in the end."
