Fiji military allows police to question suspects in fatal beating

Fiji police say they will question several Fiji soldiers in relation to last month's death of a teenager, Sakiusa Rabaka, who died after being beaten by the military.

The acting police commissioner, Romanu Tikotikoca, has told the Fiji live website that they had consultations with the military regarding the matter.

Earlier police officers were prevented from interviewing soldiers in an apparent defiance of the military bosses who had allowed the police to do its job.

The teenager's mother had laid a complaint over the beating.
