Samoa's Ministry of Health and Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Labour have warned the public over the import and consumption of two brands of an American made peanut butter because they are contaminated with salmonella bacteria.
The warning has followed advice from the U.S Food and Drug Administration circulating within seventy countries where the food products are imported.
The Peter Pan and Great Value peanut butter purchased since May last year are affected according to a public warning from the two government ministries.
The head of the ministry of health's clinical department, Dr Stanley Dean, says symptoms of salmonella infection include fever, diarrhoea and abdominal cramps.
