Lack of funds stops Samoan schools attending American Samoa's Flag Day

Samoa's three invited schools for the Flag Day celebrations in American Samoa next month will not participate because of a lack of funding.

The Papauta Girls and Wesley colleges as well as the Don Bosco School from the Catholic Church were all invited by Governor Togiola Tulafono, to attend the celebrations.

But the government is not able to provide financial assistance for the three schools because the South Pacific Games in August has been the top priority.

The chief executive officer of the Ministry of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, Va'asatia Poloma Komiti, says the local police band as well is not able to participate.
