The Chief manager of Fiji's Westpac Bank says remittances to the country are increasing with the bank seeing an upsurge in this area in the last three months.

David Evans told the Fiji-Live website that while it is hard to get exact figures of remittances to Fiji, current estimates put the total at about $400 million a year.

Mr Evans says he believes that people are supporting families by sending more money back to Fiji.
