Tahiti will provide the stunning backdrop for the Oceania Football Confederation Under 17 championship which gets underway tomorrow.

New Zealand coached by former international striker Colin Tuaa are the hot favourities for the title, although they'll have stiff competition from Fiji and New Caledonia.

The biggest loss is the absence of Solomon Islands, forced to withdraw due to budget constraints.

This means their top quality youngsters such as Tony Otini, Lenson Bisili and Victor Fenehia are no longer able to showcase their talents.
