Fiji's Tourism Industry is set to strengthen as a new resort prepares to open up on the Island.

The international Radisson chain of hotels is to open a new resort at Denarau Island, near Nadi, within the next few months.

The head of the Fiji Visitors Bureau, Bill Gavoka, says the hotel is already recruiting workers and will provide around two-hundred full-time jobs.

He says having another huge hotel brand name investing in the island, will help continue to boost Fiji's tourism industry.

"It just gives Fiji a lot of confidence, a lot of belief that our tourism industry is in tact and indeed our country is in tact. So I'm very very pleased about the Radisson opening here. In terms of the Pacific I don't think there's any other country right now with the kind of offering in accommodation that Fiji has today."

Bill Gavoka says other big names like Marriotts, Intercontinental and Four Seasons are also being attracted to Fiji.
